The Compliance Role

This role is a critical member of our global compliance team, responsible for ensuring that Airwallex complies with all relevant regulations and laws. As a central part of this team, you will drive forward and embed Airwallex's compliance program to safeguard our business as we continue to grow.

We see Compliance as a service to our business teams and our customers, and we are excited about collaborating and enabling our teams to succeed. This person will partner with internal teams to design, develop, implement, and monitor screening and monitoring rules detecting and mitigating AML and other financial crime-related risks. The role supports regulatory obligations for the Australian and New Zealand market.

Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), this is a great opportunity to influence our growth story. You will be responsible for driving the development, launch, and management of several key compliance programs while adding value to developing compliance initiatives.

This role is based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop the FCC compliance framework of Airwallex in Australia and New Zealand, building on the Airwallex global compliance framework.
  2. Support setting departmental and individual targets for the FCC Team.
  3. Manage day-to-day AML regulatory interactions, examinations, and ad-hoc requests.
  4. Support FCC team leaders to meet with critical external stakeholders, including regulators and financial partners.
  5. Responsible for developing an effective tactical, strategic, and updated anti-money laundering program.
  6. Manage BAU tasks including KYC profile approval, name screening alert clearance, and investigation in transaction monitoring with filing Suspicious Matter Reports if necessary.
  7. Provide advice and support to Commercial and Operations teams on various FCC matters.
  8. Work closely with the Financial Partnership team to address potential enquiries from external parties, including banking partners and scheme partners.
  9. Design and execute reports to measure success and performance of AML Compliance initiatives, operations, critical metrics, and Key Risk Indicators.
  10. Coordinate with stakeholders to address issues raised in internal audit reports, self-assessments, compliance reviews, or regulator's examination of AML policy.
  11. Drive internal controls design and monitoring to support Compliance Operational policy and procedures.
