The Natural Perils & Geospatial Analyst role is a key position within the Home pricing team at Auto & General. This technical expert will play a crucial part in developing natural peril and geospatial pricing strategies using robust, accurate, and timely data-driven analysis and insight.

Responsibilities of this role include building, implementing, and maintaining address and natural peril datasets with a strong focus on data validation and quality assurance. The successful candidate will also be responsible for understanding the impacts and tracking the effectiveness of risk rating changes.

In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will conduct technical and geospatial analysis to identify and resolve complex issues. They will also identify opportunities for improvements to risk rating data and processes and support the wider business with technical queries related to pricing and natural peril risk.

This role requires collaboration and solution development for the wider distribution of natural peril and geospatial datasets to enhance value and utilisation. Other reasonable and relevant activities may be requested to meet operational requirements.

Requirements
  • A desirable academic background includes data science, geospatial, environmental science, or other analytics backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, Bigquery, and SAS is expected.
  • Familiarity with geospatial software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
