About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of breastfeeding services in a remote community.

The Lactation Consultant will be part of a multidisciplinary team at Mount Isa Hospital, working towards enhancing maternal and infant health outcomes.

This position provides a specialized service for women and their families across the healthcare continuum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and promote breastfeeding in the community
  • Provide education and training on lactation and infant feeding to various stakeholders
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care as part of the Mount Isa Hospital Midwifery Service team
Requirements:
  • Mandatory requirements include a relevant tertiary degree qualification and registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Registered Midwife (RM)
  • Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification
  • A postgraduate qualification or current enrollment in a relevant area of study is highly desirable
