Transport Operations Specialist

As a Transport Operations Specialist with the Australian Defence Force, you will play a critical role in the movement of cargo and supplies across various military vehicles. Your responsibilities will include operating and managing a range of vehicles, including 4WDs, off-road forklifts, trucks, and road trains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and manage a variety of military vehicles
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of cargo and supplies
  • Collaborate with other teams to support operations and training
Training and Development:

You will undergo 12 weeks of recruit training at Kapooka in Wagga Wagga, NSW, where you will learn essential skills such as physical training, weapon handling, first aid, drill, and field craft. Following your initial training, you will have the opportunity to specialize in one of two roles: Driver or Cargo Operator.

As a Driver, you will have the chance to operate high-performance military vehicles, including the Mercedes Benz G-Wagon and the 110-tonne heavy equipment transporter. As a Cargo Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of crucial cargo by road, rail, sea, or air.

What's Next?

After completing your Gap Year program, you will have the option to continue your career in the Army or use the skills and experience gained to pursue future career opportunities. There is no obligation to serve beyond the one-year program period.
