Job Description

In this role, you will be an integral part of our award-winning kitchen brigade as a Commis Chef Assistant. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Executive Chef in preparing and presenting menu items that showcase variety and flair, all within the cost margins specified by the hotel.

  • You will work under the supervision of the Executive Chef and senior chefs to ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Liaise with the restaurant team regarding menu availability, additions, and changes to ensure seamless service.
  • Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage, implementing and maintaining stock control procedures.

You will also be responsible for checking that all cooked and pre-cooked foods are properly stored, and for keeping all working areas clean and tidy. This includes ensuring all equipment is maintained, serviced, and cleaned, and reporting any problems to the Executive Chef.

Additionally, you will play a key role in observing Work, Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safety of your team and guests.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A genuine passion for cuisine and cooking with a creative flair.
  • Previous experience in similar roles within an a la carte environment.
  • An interest in learning and developing your career with industry professionals.
  • Trade qualifications with previous experience an advantage.
  • A working understanding of food safety standards and HACCP.
  • A high standard of hygiene, grooming, and presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
