Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic Job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy commercial vehicles.

About the Role
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and construction equipment.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and analytical skills.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize vehicle downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems.
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Requirements
  • Proficient knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a range of vehicles, plant and equipment inclusive of Garbage Compactors and road Sweeping trucks.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to analyse, diagnose and determine solutions to problems relating to plant and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Ability to utilise and operate computer-based maintenance software to manage maintenance activities on day-to-day basis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies in the field.
