Legal Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to partner with our financial business.

This role requires hands-on legal advice, drafting and negotiating deal documents, managing legal risks, and ensuring compliance.

  • Providing expert counsel on banking law, corporate finance, trade finance, and small business lending transactions.
  • Structuring, drafting, negotiating, and reviewing transaction documents to ensure they meet the Company's mandate and objectives.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks; working closely with credit, portfolio management, and external advisers to implement risk management strategies.
  • Developing and maintaining legal templates, guidelines, and training materials for transaction teams.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law, gained in-house at a large financial institution or within a top/mid-tier law firm.
  • Solid background in banking law, corporate finance, and trade finance, with exposure to risk participation and syndicated lending arrangements.
  • Proven drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Confidence in communicating complex legal issues to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
