About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Approvals Consultant to join our team at BMT Group Ltd - Engineering Consultants. As a key member of our environmental consulting team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on environmental approvals and assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and statutory environmental advice to clients in a variety of sectors, with a focus on coastal and maritime infrastructure works.
  • Build upon existing and develop new client relationships to further the APAC environment business.
  • Provide technical advice, leadership, and mentoring within the national BMT environment team.
  • Liaise with potential and current clients for the purposes of work generation, service delivery, and business development.
  • Perform high-quality and professional technical work requiring a high degree of independence and judgement.
  • Serve as a technical specialist in the areas of environmental approvals, environmental assessment, and project management.
  • Give technical and business advice to management and business delivery teams.
  • Supervise and review the work of external consultants and team members.
  • Share knowledge and act as a mentor within their area of expertise or across the business.
  • Review, prepare, and submit proposals/tenders.
  • Project manage a range of projects to scope and within time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to thought leadership activities through their work and by regularly authoring papers, presenting at events, seminars, and conferences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Planning, Engineering, or other relevant area of study.
  • More than 7 years' experience post-graduation.
  • Demonstrated experience in State environmental approvals regime and/or Commonwealth environmental approvals regime.
  • Willingness to learn new environmental approvals regimes.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking environmental assessments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical background in environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated business development skills.
