About the Project
McConnell Dowell, in partnership with CPB Contractors and design partners Mott McDonald, Arup, and Aurecon, has been awarded the Tram Grade Separation Projects as an Alliance. This project involves replacing level crossings at Marion Road, Cross Road, and Morphett Road with tram overpasses, enhancing network efficiency and safety for all users.

The Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (TGSPA) will deliver this project in collaboration with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. As a key member of the project team, you will work closely with the project operations team to ensure the successful delivery of this significant South Australian infrastructure project.

To excel in this role, you will require:
  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on capital projects and large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated technical acumen and experience in managing and delivering design solutions
  • A sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
  • Strong knowledge of relevant design codes and Australian Standards
  • Competence in planning and organizing work schedules and a proven ability to deliver to timelines
  • Self-confidence and the ability to persuade, convince, or impress others to gain their commitment and cooperation
  • Strong and clear communication skills with a proven ability to engage others

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinating with managers and superintendents on engineering, temporary works, scheduling, and project status
  • Providing overall progress reports and other reports related to schedule and cost as required by the Project Manager
  • Participating in bid evaluation of subcontract tenders
  • Managing project documentation, including design reports, construction plans, and progress reports
  • Monitoring and coordinating the preparation, maintenance, and change of construction schedules, methods, manning charts, and equipment requirements
  • Developing and overseeing inspection practices of Site Engineers/Project Engineers to ensure effective and satisfactory progress and completion of all work areas for the project
  • Ensuring temporary works designs and fabrication are verified prior to use
  • Carrying out progressive engineering audits of temporary works in accordance with the audit schedule
