About the Role

We are seeking a recent or impending graduate planner to join our high-performing Strategic Futures team. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the development, assessment, and implementation of strategic projects, structure plans, development plans, policies, strategies, and planning scheme amendments of strategic importance to the City of Whittlesea.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management and provision of support to strategic planning projects to achieve sustainable outcomes for the growing Whittlesea community.
  • Contribute to the development, assessment, and implementation of strategic projects, structure plans, development plans, policies, strategies, and planning scheme amendments.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align with Council's broader engagement program, strategic directions, and policy.
  • Develop effective skills in writing detailed reports and correspondence.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
  • Recent tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline, or significant progress towards achieving the requirements for such tertiary qualification.
  • Understanding of the role of local government as it relates to growth area planning and development.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
