Senior Planning Lawyer

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to join our team as Senior Planning Lawyer. The successful candidate will provide specialist legal advice and advocacy on planning and environmental matters, working closely with key stakeholders.

The role will involve leading, managing and advising on complex planning and environment matters, including litigation in the Planning and Environment Court. The ideal candidate will have significant knowledge and experience in local government and planning law, with strong advocacy skills and the ability to represent Council in Court and lead negotiations.

In addition to their technical expertise, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high-level communication skills, build relationships with senior stakeholders, and take a leadership role with respect to corporate deliverables and branch performance against established outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist legal advice and advocacy on planning and environmental matters
  • Lead, manage and advise on complex planning and environment matters, including litigation in the Planning and Environment Court
  • Demonstrate high-level communication skills and build relationships with senior stakeholders
Requirements
  • Admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and hold a current Practicing Certificate from the Queensland Law Society
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in local government and planning law, especially in the conduct of Planning and Environment Court litigation
  • Strong advocacy skills, with the ability to represent Council in Court and lead negotiations
  • High-level communication skills and the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders
