Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Product Compliance & Risk Senior Manager to join our growing Product team in APAC, with a focus on Australia and New Zealand.

This is a hands-on role that will allow you to have an impact on Wise's mission, grow as a product and compliance manager, and help save millions more people money.

As part of our team, you will be responsible for enabling our APAC Product team to launch new products in AU/NZ through a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and regulators' expectations around them.

You will work closely with the team in AU/NZ to create and improve our products in a compliant and scalable way, perform regulatory analysis of new products and services, and ensure that related controls are implemented consistently prior to launch.

You will also stay ahead of regulatory compliance trends and the regulatory agenda in AU/NZ, identify and align with risk owners and second line of defence on the main regulatory issues and risks in AU/NZ, and present this in a clear and understandable way to wider teams.

In addition, you will conduct regulatory change gap analysis and ensure that implementation plans are executed in a timely manner, work with global teams to maximize synergies with other regulatory implementations and drive consistency and scalability by leveraging programs of work already executed or in flight across the Wise Group.

Furthermore, you will manage audits, challenge audit findings in collaboration with Product and second line of defence Risk and Compliance teams, develop remediation plans, and ensure they are agreed upon across lines of defence and executed promptly.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, with a strong background in and knowledge of financial regulation in AU/NZ (including contemporary knowledge of regulatory expectations).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with different audiences (from Product & Engineering teams to external auditors and regulators such as APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC).
  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively with data to drive practical, actionable and value-adding business decisions.
  • A team player with a collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders such as Product, Risk and Compliance.
  • A natural owner, that drives and delivers projects from inception to completion, timely and with attention to detail.

Nice to have but not essential:

  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Previous experience in working in FinTech or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Experience implementing and/or operationalising operational resilience programs.
  • Willingness to travel.
