Key Role of the Business Development Manager

The role of a Business Development Manager is pivotal in laying the groundwork for effective sales and marketing strategies. They build relationships with key stakeholders, positioning the hotel competitively in the Corporate market.

  • Support the Director of Sales in conducting market research to identify target markets, competitors, and local business environment.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies tailored to target market segments, including pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and sales tactics.
  • Create and execute sales plans that drive incremental occupancy, increase average rates, and boost volume and food and beverage sales.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients, corporate partners, event planners, and local businesses through networking and attending industry events.
  • Negotiate partnerships with relevant organizations to drive bookings and increase brand visibility.
  • Organize events such as media launches, familiarization tours, and networking events to generate buzz and create awareness about the hotel.
  • Build and maintain a database of potential clients, leads, and contacts for targeted marketing campaigns and sales efforts.
  • Meet personal and team sales goals to maximize profitability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education qualification in business, hospitality, sales, or related field.
  • Four or more years of experience in hospitality or hotel sales and marketing.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with market conditions and competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrated capability of collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail with excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
