Senior Laboratory Support Specialist, Civil Engineering

The University of New South Wales is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Officer to join its team in the Infrastructure Laboratories within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe, efficient, and effective daily operation of equipment and services in the laboratories. As a key member of the technical team, you will provide technical support for the design and manufacture of specialized equipment for academic and research projects, operate, maintain, and repair testing equipment and facilities according to specifications and health and safety requirements, and implement and maintain safety systems within the laboratories.

Salary: $95,500 - $105,000 per annum (Level 6) + 17% superannuation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for laboratory and research projects
  • Operate, maintain, and repair testing equipment and facilities
  • Implement and maintain safety systems within the laboratories
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with staff and students to achieve project objectives

Requirements:

  • Associate Diploma or Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate complex equipment
  • Experience in instrumentation and set-up, calibration, and maintenance of electronic data acquisition systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
