Perth & Kinross Council is a local government authority committed to delivering high-quality services to its community. As part of our Climate Change & Zero Waste Team, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waste Minimisation Officer to join our team.
Salary
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary ranging from £31,984 to £35,100 per annum, reflecting the essential skills and qualifications required for this role.
Job Description
This exciting opportunity involves undertaking a range of diverse activities to increase recycling participation through engaging with residents, businesses, schools, and local communities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote waste reduction and minimisation strategies in line with national and local policy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing effective waste management initiatives;
- Providing educational resources and workshops for schools and community groups;
- Collaborating with local champions to promote sustainable practices;
- Conducting litter monitoring and responding to Freedom of Information requests;
- Preparing and delivering communication materials, including internal news bulletins and website updates.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- An HND equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline;
- Experience working within the waste/recycling industry or a personal passion for environmental sustainability;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Able to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficient in using social media platforms and content management systems.
