Explosives Specialist

The Explosives Specialist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality blasting services to open pit mining teams. This permanent full-time position involves working at our Pilgangoora Operation, which operates on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key Responsibilities:- Blast Preparation and Execution: Assist shotfirers with on-bench activities, including blasthole QA/QC, priming, loading, stemming, and off-siding MMU's as directed.
- Drilling Accuracy and Optimization: Check drilling activities for accuracy and identify issues early to minimize redrills.
- Blast Safety and Security: Perform blast guard duties before blasting to ensure safety and remove personnel from the area.
- Quality Control and Improvement: Utilize Blast IQ to optimize blasting and maintain quality records.
- Health and Safety Standards: Maintain occupational health and safety standards and report any incidents or hazards.
- Task Management and Completion: Complete Take-5's before starting tasks and midway through if conditions change.
This role requires professional diligence, respect, and fairness towards others. Good working relationships with superiors, peers, and external clients are essential.
Requirements:- Strong understanding of drilling and blasting techniques and procedures.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
