Music Department Leader Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Music Department as the Head of Music. The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and organizing the classroom music program, instrumental program, and college ensembles.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is committed to contributing to the College's liturgical life and working collaboratively with the Faith and Mission team.

The Head of Music will work closely with the Deputy Principal - Faith and Mission to ensure music has a vital role in the College's liturgical celebrations. They will also collaborate with Directors of Learning to develop and implement a comprehensive co-curricular music program.

This role offers the opportunity to drive quality learning, student growth, and academic excellence aligned with the College's Catholic ethos and Marist Spirituality.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience in their specialist area, as well as:

  • Experience in leading and managing music programs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and development
  • A passion for creating engaging and inclusive learning environments

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a strong understanding of contemporary teaching pedagogies and a willingness to uphold the College's vision and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Music Department, including planning and organizing programs
  • Collaborate with the Faith and Mission team to contribute to the College's liturgical life
  • Work closely with Directors of Learning to develop and implement music programs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with musicians and music organizations
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff members
