Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to provide expert on-site technical support in high-tech data centres.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing physical hardware tasks such as installations, replacements, removals, upgrades, and rack housekeeping to maintain optimal performance.
  • Managing and organizing power and network cabling while adhering to best practices for labelling and documentation.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting hardware, connectivity, and environmental issues to ensure seamless operations.
  • Acting as an on-site hands for remote engineers (Smart Hands support), including pressing buttons, reading screen outputs, moving cables, reseating components, swapping cards, cables or other hardware, and documenting work using ticketing systems, asset tracking tools, and checklists.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a focus on uptime, quality, and service delivery. Required skills and experience include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in data centre, IT support, or similar technical role.
  • Basic knowledge of networking (cabling, ports, patch panels).
  • Familiarity with server hardware components and troubleshooting processes.
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding environments (lifting, crouching, repetitive tasks).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+ are desirable. Experience with DCIM tools, ITIL, or ticketing systems like ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy is also beneficial.
