Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing expert technical direction and operational advice, making informed decisions, and offering overall leadership for the technical specifications and delivery of data centres within our portfolio.

This position is crucial in supporting the Design Managers by offering innovative and effective technical solutions across various assigned data centre projects. The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the management of both internal and external resources to ensure the successful delivery of data centre technical specifications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Design Managers in providing technical solutions through demonstrated deep understanding of technical and customer requirements.
  • Accountable for reviewing related disciplines in the design process, providing instruction to RFIs and review/approve technical submittals.
  • Researching, evaluating, and informing mechanical/electrical equipment and other typology equipment/component selection to inform technical solution for respective customer requirements.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining mechanical/electrical systems that support data centre facilities, in conjunction with the Design Managers.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require a Bachelor's degree in engineering, plus minimum six to eight years experience as a Mechanical Engineer. You must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial engineering, with a primary focus on data centres.

You will also need to have strong understanding of hyperscale and co-location data centre operators basis of design and technical requirements. Understanding data centre facility design and construction requirements is essential.

A strong project management or project lead experience including RFQ/RFP process, selecting engineering teams, developing budgets, coordinating multiple consultant teams and facilitating meetings is desirable.
