Senior Plant Metallurgist Role Summary

As a senior metallurgy professional, you will lead the metallurgy team in delivering technical guidance and process engineering solutions. This includes evaluating process improvements, collaborating with site operations teams, Process Control Engineers, and Integrated Operations Centre teams to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement solutions to operational challenges related to safety, process efficiency, yield, and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create standard reports to present process engineering outcomes.
  • Work closely with mine planning, Process Control & Hive operations to improve process plant control and oversee the implementation of PIDs.
  • Drive short-term metallurgical accounting and production planning.
  • Generate and approve process-related deliverables and documentation for process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Oversee the technical quality, integrity, and adequacy of process changes, adhering to Management of Change protocols.
  • Lead a team of metallurgists and metallurgical technicians to achieve required outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and well-being.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in the mineral processing industry with direct operational/technical development experience with producers.
  • Over two years of process engineering experience on major mineral processing projects focusing on materials handling, crushing, screening, and wet beneficiation process plants, particularly physical separation unit processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in most major components of process plant operation and optimization.
  • Strong leadership, conceptual thinking, and analytical focus with practical alignment to reality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and engage across all levels.
