Empowerment Specialist

The role of an Empowerment Specialist is to assist individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities. This involves creating a supportive environment that fosters growth, inclusion, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Participation - assisting with social outings and transport
  • Assistance with daily life tasks - personal care needs
  • Supporting Participants in a SIL House
  • Enabling Participants to achieve their goals and build their independent living skills
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with team members, Participants, families, and stakeholders involved in supporting Participants
  • Documenting records - recording shift notes, reporting incidents, identifying areas of improvement, and recognizing steps taken towards achieving goals
  • Reflecting positive values and attitudes

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong English communication skills
  • Effective written skills
  • Ability to utilize common sense and take initiative
  • Capacity to work in a team and autonomously
  • Openness to new experiences, willingness to learn, and ability to work with diverse people with various skill levels

Requirements:

  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check (optional)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (if not held, can be obtained after applying)
  • Drivers Licence (without restrictions)
  • Comprehensive car insurance
  • Car Registration
  • First Aid & CPR Certificates
