Senior Financial Accountant Needed

We are seeking a skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team in Melbourne CBD. This is a critical contract role that involves leading the preparation of financial statements and managing general ledger entries.

The ideal candidate will have experience in financial accounting, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination. They should also have a deep understanding of Victorian Government financial frameworks and be able to compile documentation for audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards and public sector reporting requirements.
  • Audit Coordination: Compile documentation for audit readiness, including liaison with VAGO and internal business units.
  • General Ledger Management: Manage general ledger entries, month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting packs.
  • Stakeholder Partnerships: Partner with auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and complete audit deliverables.
  • Risk Identification: Identify gaps and risks in financial data, ensuring precision and consistency across reporting.
  • EOFY Support: Support End of Financial Year (EOFY) processes and ensure all statutory reporting obligations are met within tight deadlines.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend improvements to accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.

  • Tertiary Qualification: A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is mandatory.
  • Professional Certifications: CPA or CA qualification is highly desirable.
