The Orange Door Initiative unites various professional groups and methodologies to form a cohesive team, establishing a centralized intake point in each designated area to provide innovative support for:
women, children, youth, and families facing domestic violence; individuals responsible for domestic violence; families requiring assistance with the care, development, and welfare of infants, children, and adolescents.The team at The Orange Door comprises a diverse mix of personnel from Family Safety Victoria (FSV), community service organizations (CSOs), Aboriginal services, and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The composition of the team at each launch site will vary based on local requirements.
Position Overview
Practitioners at The Orange Door will collaborate within an integrated team to deliver specialized support to individuals affected by domestic violence, including adults, children, and families needing additional assistance with child care. Anglicare Victoria staff will specifically focus on providing services to men and perpetrators.
This role will initially be based at a designated office, with the possibility of transitioning to another location after the initial period.
As a Practitioner, your responsibilities will include offering guidance with an emphasis on risk evaluation, engagement, and delivering an initial response, serving as a resource for individuals referred to the Hub. You will work collaboratively within an integrated practice framework to address domestic violence and family vulnerability issues through the provision of:
Screening and triage, assessment, crisis intervention, service planning, and targeted support; Coordination of services and management of referrals; Collaborative efforts with the Hub team to facilitate integrated risk assessment and planning, including participation in case discussions, meetings, and resolution of stakeholder concerns.For detailed information, please refer to the Position Description available.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience working with individuals who exhibit violent behavior, particularly men and fathers; A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or related behavioral sciences at the degree level, or an associate diploma with substantial experience in the relevant service area; Proven experience in working with children and families, particularly in contexts involving complex needs and risk factors; Resilience to support clients who have experienced trauma; The ability to identify, assess, and prioritize client risks and needs using a holistic family approach; Awareness of personal expertise limits and the capacity to seek guidance or refer clients to other specialists when necessary.Please note that it is essential for the successful candidate to hold a valid Victorian Driver's License, a Working with Children Check, and be willing to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to starting the role.
