The role of Instructional Leader is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled educator to make a positive impact on the learning journey of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Expertise: Provide demonstration lessons and observe other teachers, offering constructive feedback to support their growth.
  • Lead Professional Learning: Facilitate school-based professional development, mentoring and coaching teachers to enhance their skills, knowledge and effectiveness.

Selection Criteria:

  • Curriculum Expertise: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.
  • Teaching Strategies: Implement high-impact teaching strategies that cater to student learning needs, supporting colleagues to evaluate program effectiveness and provide feedback on student progress.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Develop strong relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the wider community to promote student engagement, wellbeing and agency.
  • Professionalism: Model Department values and support others to reflect on their practice, facilitating school-based professional learning opportunities.

About Our College:

Hazel Glen College is a leading educational institution located in the City of Whittlesea, one of Melbourne's fastest-growing municipalities. Our college has a dynamic and integral role in the ongoing development of the Doreen community hub.

We have experienced rapid growth since commencing in 2014, expanding from 143 students to 2,300 students and 250 staff. Our college structure includes Kindergarten, Primary Years P-5 and Secondary Years 6-12, with plans to transition to Primary P-6 and Secondary 7-12 in 2025.

A Child Family Centre on our site offers kindergarten, extended day care, playgroups, intervention services, maternal health centre and community service groups, creating an innovative early childhood education precinct.
