Job Title: Senior API Developer

Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled Senior API Developer to join our team. As a key member of our API development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced API management solutions using Google Apigee Edge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement API resources inside a proxy, applying various out-of-the-box policies for authentication, transformation, throttling, and mediation.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to create and deploy VMs with enterprise RHEL images and set up PaaS SQL and MySQL databases.
  • Develop and deliver APIs in each Agile sprint from dev environment to pre-production.
  • Enhance the CI/CD pipeline with new features like code quality checks to ensure automated deployment is easier and risk-free.
  • Implement reporting, alerting, traffic management, performance monitoring, and analytics over API Gateway flow.
  • Apply various out-of-the-box policies in API Gateway for authentication, transformation, throttling, and mediation.
  • Manage virtual machines in Microsoft Azure cloud and deploy required images with MySQL and PaaS SQL databases.
  • Orchestrate auto-scale sets in application gateways.
  • Transform data from SOAP XML to JSON and process large chunks of data to extract required output for the app.
Requirements:
  • At least 9 years of experience in API Gateway, API Management, and a strong grasp on Apigee Edge platform.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in JavaScript for API proxy development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with API development IDEs, tools like Postman, JMeter, SOAPUI, Eclipse, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies like Scrum.
  • Strong hold on Microsoft Azure cloud admin activities with at least 4 years of experience in cloud development.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps principles and tools with at least 5 years of experience in DevOps environments over public or private cloud.
