Suicide Prevention Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Suicide Prevention Specialist to join our team at Open Minds Integrated Mental Health Services.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals at risk of suicide. As a Suicide Prevention Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions and support to clients across Townsville, Mackay, and Cairns.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver Evidence-Based Interventions: Provide CBT-SP and DBT, and utilize suicide prevention frameworks like Safeside, CAMS, and Suicide to HOPE.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Perform thorough risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans to ensure client safety.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Build strong relationships with healthcare providers, Hospital and Health Services, and other organizations to develop robust referral pathways and service integration.
- Training and Capacity Building: Enhance workforce capacity by upskilling mental health professionals in suicide prevention strategies.
- Tertiary Qualification: Hold a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing, with relevant professional registration (e.g., AHPRA, AASW).
- Expertise in Suicide Prevention: Have experience in clinical risk assessment, safety planning, and delivering evidence-based mental health interventions within suicide prevention frameworks.
- Cultural Competence: Be committed to fostering inclusive, culturally sensitive care, especially for First Nations People and priority populations.
- Competitive Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience.
