Key Role: Deputy Editor

This is a prime opportunity for an experienced journalist or early career editor to lead daily and long-term editorial planning, sharpen coverage priorities, and drive impactful journalism across print and digital platforms.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Editor to commission, edit and publish high-quality content that aligns with the newsroom's standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead editorial planning, set coverage priorities and guide journalists in delivering distinctive reporting.
  • Mentor reporters, encouraging exclusive reporting, strong sourcing, analytical depth and enterprise journalism.
  • Drive digital strategy and collaboration, including SEO and social media planning, story placement and participation in newsroom conferences.

Requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in editing and leading complex coverage.
  • Strong news judgement, identifying original high-impact stories.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and techniques.
  • Excellent organisational skills, managing competing priorities and deadline pressure.
  • A collaborative attitude and strong communication skills.
