About the Role

The Package Engineer SMP will be responsible for the development and delivery of various Structural, Mechanical, and Piping packages on-time and on-budget. This role involves managing and overseeing the execution of the tender phase, including the development of tender documentation and scopes of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjudication of tenders and recommendation of preferred bidders
  • Signing off on the Request for Award (RFA)
  • Coordination of review of fully conformed contracts for technical and commercial compliance
  • Preparation of necessary approval documentation
  • Management of contractor's detailed design process
  • Coordination of internal and consultant design reviews
  • Identification of value engineering and cost reduction opportunities
  • Pre-mobilisation and site establishment phases
  • Ensuring all pre-mobilisation requirements are fulfilled and site facilities are adequate
  • Attending site kick-off meetings and monitoring construction activities
  • Leading regular contract review meetings
  • Controlling reporting requirements
  • Oversight of QA/QC inspections
  • Management of contractual claims
  • Ensuring completion of PMC punch list items
  • Approval of factory acceptance testing (FAT) reports
  • Ensuring all technical documentation is properly handed over to BCI

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • At least 6 years of experience in Project Engineering and Management Level delivering similar type of packages, preferably within the Mining sector
  • Experience in execution of SMP projects, particularly processing plants and NPI facilities
  • Understanding of commercial implications with experience in preparing and managing capital projects including budgets and cash flow management
