Junior Hydrogeologist Job

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the outdoors and have a keen interest in groundwater.

As a member of our team, you will be working within the technical discipline of Hydrology & Hydrogeology. You will participate in field activities such as integrated monitoring programs, hydrogeological site investigations, drilling programs, and hydraulic testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake routine integrated monitoring programs which include groundwater, surface water, soils and air quality sampling while following procedures and industry best practice.
  • Perform field studies that may include hydrogeological site investigations, drilling programs, monitoring bore installations and hydraulic testing.
  • Prepare quality factual reports based on field and laboratory data collected for or provided by clients.
  • Prepare Health and Safety documentation for the field work.
  • Liaise with site personnel, suppliers and laboratory personnel to support the smooth delivery of the field work.

Requirements:

  • A short course in hydrogeology or University qualifications (Bachelor Degree or higher) in Science or Engineering, specializing in Hydrogeology or a related field.
  • Practical experience in the field of hydrogeology with demonstrated skills in the areas of groundwater monitoring and sampling data analysis, groundwater bore drilling and construction, data analysis and report writing.
  • Working knowledge of QLD groundwater legislation and policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in groundwater data analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and remotely to undertake monitoring projects.
  • Manual driver's licence and previous 4WD experience and training is highly desirable.
  • Ideally you will have mine site inductions (standard 11).
  • Australian citizenship/working rights are essential.
