Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mental Health Worker and contribute to our mission of promoting social and emotional wellbeing among Aboriginal people.

The successful candidate will have experience working in the mental health sector and/or a relevant formal qualification. They will also have a demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and established local community connections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the mental health wellness needs of clients and their families
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive and holistic programs and services to promote social and emotional wellbeing among Aboriginal people
  • Increase accessibility of mental health services within the local Aboriginal community
  • Empower the local Aboriginal community to take charge of their health and family wellbeing
  • Foster relationships with mainstream health providers to enhance mental health service delivery

Requirements

  • Experience working in the mental health sector and/or an appropriate formal qualification in the field of health/social or behavioural sciences
  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established local community connections
  • Experience in goal setting, connecting individuals and families with the right people, support services and opportunities to meet their needs
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships with peers and clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to collaborative teamwork and the delivery of comprehensive community services
