The Great Southern Mental Health Service is a well-established service, providing comprehensive mental health care to adults in the community and inpatient setting.
The Adult Community Mental Health team is comprised of a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, registrars, resident medical officers, experienced nurses, Aboriginal mental health workers, and allied health professionals.
The team is responsible for providing clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment, liaising with general practitioners and other healthcare professionals, and supervising and training medical students and junior doctors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment for adults in the community or inpatient setting
- Liaising and conferring regularly with general practitioners and other healthcare professionals
- Supervising and training medical students and junior doctors, including a training registrar
- Initiating or participating in research projects relevant to the mental health service
- Participating in the on-call roster for the mental health team and the ECT roster
The successful candidate will be eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist in psychiatry, have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or approved equivalent, and have extensive clinical experience in adult mental health.
