
Bushfire Mitigation Specialist

The Bushfire Mitigation Coordinator is a key position within our organization, responsible for coordinating bushfire mitigation strategies and education programs. This role involves managing the Fire Warden network and overseeing the Permit to Light System across the district.
Key Responsibilities- Lead bushfire mitigation planning and activities, including risk assessments and evaluations
- Manage and mentor Bushfire Mitigation Officers and First Nations officers
- Act as Chief Fire Warden in their absence and support bushfire operations
- Oversee Fire Warden appointments, training, and support
- Manage the Permit to Light Fire system and collaborate with the Bushfire Mitigation Unit
- Support bushfire risk data management and serve as a liaison for intelligence sharing
- Manage regulatory tools, including fire bans, and assist with fire investigations and enforcement
- Coordinate district bushfire committees and participate in forums and working groups
To be successful in this role, applicants should have substantive inspector roles or relevant skills and experience. Volunteers and external parties with relevant skills are also encouraged to apply. A commitment to bushfire competencies and regional teamwork is essential.
