GenesisCare is seeking an experienced and skilled nurse to fill the position of National Infection Control and Prevention Nurse Consultant. This role is a key part of our commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the safety of our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and guidance on infection prevention and control practices across GenesisCare facilities.
- Develop and implement evidence-based infection prevention and control strategies to minimize the risk of transmission of infection.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective infection prevention and control practices.
- Monitor and report on infection rates and trends, and develop strategies to improve infection prevention and control practices.
- Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention and control practices.
- Conduct audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement in infection prevention and control practices.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to stay up-to-date on the latest infection prevention and control practices and guidelines.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum 5 years full-time equivalent post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent experience in infection prevention and control.
- Postgraduate nursing qualifications or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by GenesisCare.
- Accredited NHHI Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator (or working towards).
- Previous comprehensive senior nursing experience within a hospital environment.
- Proven experience in managing KPI datasets, including monitoring of activity targets and infection rates.
- Core knowledge of The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) national standards and implementation and monitoring of quality activities to support these standards.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients, consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
- Understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement in the workplace.
- Affiliation and membership with professional IPC-related associations at national or international level.
- Credentialled Infection Prevention and Control professional.
- Understanding of IPC risks and implications in large and geographically diverse organizations.
- Experience in undertaking and participating effectively in a team and collaborating across multidisciplinary services.
- Experience in accreditation processes, including preparation and participation.
- Experience in leading and participating in improvement projects.
- Experience in development, implementation, and evaluation of IPC education.
- Computer literacy.
