National Infection Control and Prevention Nurse Consultant Position

Leadership Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced nurse to lead our Infection Prevention and Control Program across GenesisCare Australia. As a senior practitioner, you will facilitate evidence-based practice to minimize infection risk in our facilities.
This is a pivotal role in maintaining GenesisCare's commitment to stringent infection prevention and control standards across our diverse healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership and mentorship in infection control principles to staff.
- Ensure quality clinical care aligns with ACHS guidelines and healthcare benchmarking, including liaison with medical practitioners.
- Develop and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies.
- Conduct hand hygiene compliance audits and submit data to the NHHI.
- Review infection control incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee staff health management, including immunization and occupational exposure protocols.
- Implement standard and transmission-based precautions within the organization.
Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration with a minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, including 3 years in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Postgraduate nursing qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Accredited NHHI Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator status or working towards it.
- Proven senior nursing experience in a hospital environment.
- Core knowledge of ACHS national standards and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated evidence of staying current with clinical practice advances and research in the specialty.
Desirable Qualifications
- Membership with professional IPC associations at national or international levels.
- Credentialled Infection Prevention and Control professional.
- Understanding of IPC risks and implications in large, geographically diverse organizations.
