Backend Developer Position

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our Product team and contribute to the development of our platform.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building APIs with TypeScript/Node.js, as well as experience working with relational databases and writing raw SQL (Postgres).
  • A good understanding of how to use the Node.js debugger to identify and fix complex bugs is also essential.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Play a key role in the development of backend services, integrations, and APIs that support core features in the platform.
  2. Integrate data and build new features in the frontend of our React single-page application, working on making complex agricultural data easier to understand through interactive, map-based visualisations.
  3. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to shape and build features from idea to release.
  4. Think strategically about technical architecture decisions that balance immediate requirements with long-term scalability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in professional software development, ideally with full-stack SaaS apps.
  • Solid experience building APIs with TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Experience working in a distributed system with queues and event handlers – understanding of concepts like eventual consistency and at-least-once delivery.
  • Strong TypeScript skills and an appreciation for type safety and clean, functional code.
  • Good testing skills are essential - integration and unit tests, property-based / fuzz testing.
