Leading Professor in Psychology

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Professor to lead our School of Psychology.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be expected to bring academic leadership and high-level research expertise to the School, specialising in any area of psychology with clinical/mental health expertise particularly welcome. They will have a national and international profile, with a well-established track record of high-impact publications and other outputs, effective team building and leadership, service to the discipline, and a clear ability to attract external funding through competitive grants and industry partnerships that aligns with the strategic research priorities of the School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with students at all levels and interact regularly with other research and teaching staff within the School and the Faculty.
  • Be an active member of the SEED Lifespan Strategic Research Centre and collaborate with other researchers in the School, and more broadly in the Faculty and University.
  • Mentor early and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) and supervise Higher Degree by Research students to completion as principal supervisor.
Requirements
  • PhD or professional doctorate in a relevant discipline.
  • Success in mentoring postdoctoral EMCRs.
  • Evidence of original, innovative and distinguished contribution to scholarship and teaching, research and research supervision.
  • Demonstrated success as an eminent authority at the national and international level in research and scholarship through high-quality publications, and exhibitions as relevant to the discipline.
  • Sustained success in obtaining competitive external research grants, including category 1 grants.
  • Excellence in engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national and international standing of the discipline.
  • Registered psychologist (AHPRA).
  • Experience in supervision of clinical research.
