Job Title: Academic Support Professional

The role of Academic Support Professional plays a vital part in the educational journey of students with diverse needs.

  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans for students requiring additional support, including those with learning difficulties, physical or intellectual disabilities, and English language requirements
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a comprehensive, student-centred approach to learning
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students, tailoring teaching strategies to meet their unique needs
  • Monitor student progress, analyse data, and adjust learning plans accordingly
  • Liaise with external agencies and service providers to coordinate additional support for students
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies promoting inclusivity and diversity
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in inclusive education
Key Requirements:
  • A teaching qualification and registration with the relevant teaching authority, along with a recognised qualification in Special Education or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience working as a specialist teacher or learning support professional in a secondary school setting
  • In-depth knowledge of teaching strategies and learning support programs for students with diverse needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on personalised, student-centred approaches
  • Passion for inclusive education and a commitment to supporting the personal and academic growth of all students
