Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Traction Power Engineer to join our team at Arcadis. As a key member of our global business, you will play a critical role in delivering world-leading sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the traction power and/or earthing and bonding component of projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, safety, and budget targets are met.
  • Design and develop AC and DC traction substation systems, including single line diagrams, layouts, circuit diagrams, earthing and bonding schematics, and coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Conduct AC and DC traction power system studies, including equipment sizing, fault calculations, and insulation coordination studies.
  • Coordinate traction power systems with overhead wiring and signalling system design.
  • Design lightning protection systems and earthing systems, including pipeline LFI studies.
  • Provide technical expertise and overview to clients and stakeholders, assisting with technical decision-making and offering alternative options/solutions as needed.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience as a power systems engineer, with at least 3 years of recent experience in traction power system design or equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualification in electrical/power engineering, preferably chartered engineering and RPEQ status.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Highly regarded skills include experience in a design consultancy role, leading design teams, and working with traction power system modelling software tools.
