**About the Role**

As a key member of our global team at Arcadis, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration, you will work closely with our Technical Directors and Discipline Lead to take on a significant role on national projects within the Rail Traction Power sector.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Manage the traction power and/or earthing and bonding component of projects while meeting budgetary, quality, safety, and timeframe targets.
  • Develop and implement AC and DC traction substation system designs, including single line diagrams, layouts, circuit diagrams, earthing and bonding schematics, and coordination with communication, civil, structural, and mechanical design disciplines.
  • Conduct AC and DC traction power system studies, including equipment sizing, fault calculations, and insulation coordination studies.
  • Coordinate the traction power system with overhead wiring and signalling system design.
  • Design lightning protection systems and earthing systems, including pipeline LFI studies.
  • Assess and design earthing, bonding, and electrolysis systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and overview to clients and stakeholders, assisting them through technical decision-making and offering alternative options/solutions if there are changes to project parameters.

**Requirements**

  • 8+ years of experience as a power systems engineer, with at least 3 years of recent experience in traction power system design or equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualification in electrical/power engineering, preferably chartered engineering and RPEQ status.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Highly regarded skills include experience in a design consultancy role, demonstrated ability to lead design teams, and deliver traction design packages, as well as experience with traction power system modelling software tools.
