We are seeking a skilled Construction Lawyer to support our business unit in NSW. The role is based in Sydney CBD and involves providing advice on contract interpretation, administration, and improvement.

  • Our lawyer will advise the business on contract interpretation and administration.
  • They will identify and advise on key contractual and legal risks, and provide advice on risk management and dispute avoidance.
  • The incumbent will prepare returnable schedules regarding proposed head contract departures, including amendments to the head contract.
  • They will attend tender, contract, and dispute resolution discussions and negotiations.
  • The lawyer will prepare special conditions to our template suite of agreements to ensure compliance with the head contract requirements.
  • They will review and respond to proposed departures by subcontractors and consultants to our template suite of agreements.
  • The lawyer will review confidentiality agreements and memoranda of understandings and draft necessary amendments.
  • They will assist in the management of formal legal disputes, including coordination of external legal counsel.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in law and current NSW practising certificate.
  • 3-10 years PQE experienced in construction law, preferably including front end experience.
  • Strong ability to communicate, influence, and build effective relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of theoretical and practical problems.
