Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial insights, ensuring cost control, and driving business performance across the Wests Group & the Newcastle Knights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management Reporting & Financial Analysis: Prepare and present monthly management reports, budget analysis, and cost control measures to support decision-making.
  • Financial Operations: Process general ledger journal entries, review finance team entries, preparation of monthly workpapers and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Bank & Payroll Oversight: Review payment and payroll files, and manage monthly account reconciliations.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly BAS, annual FBT returns, and audit workpapers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various business units to provide financial insights, analysis, and support.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and guide a small finance team, providing mentorship and support in day-to-day operations.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years' experience in an accounting environment, with a strong background in management reporting, cost control, and financial analysis.
  • Proven experience managing a team and working collaboratively across business functions.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritise complex tasks.
  • High technical proficiency in financial systems and a willingness to learn new applications.
