We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Trainee to join our team at SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA. As a Compliance Trainee, you will play a critical role in supporting our Australia Compliance team with day-to-day Compliance tasks and project-based activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Responsible for tracking all interactions with Australia regulators in an organized and auditable manner.
- Regulatory Response: Responsible for responding to some Regulator inquiries either in written form (drafting documented responses) or on conference calls.
- Compliance Implementation: Responsible for executing the implementation of the supporting documentation required to meet the regulatory requirements of all SG Australian entities, including manuals, obligations registers, and local policies.
- Compliance Controls: Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization.
- Control Execution: Responsible for the execution of some controls and approvals, especially Personal account dealing approvals and tracking and visitors management and tracking.
- Compliance Training: Responsible for preparatory work related to Compliance training program.
- Regional Reporting: Responsible for production of regional reporting and other regional projects as required.
- Committee Support: Assist Compliance management with the preparation of Committee meeting materials.
- Compliance Obligations: Other daily tasks include assisting the compliance team to manage day-to-day compliance obligations, and compliance team mailbox management.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Regulatory Awareness: Remain up to date on the legislative, regulatory environment that SG operates in.
- Compliance Resource Library: Create compliance resource library for staff members to reference.
- Policy Review: Review existing policies that require review and updating.
Requirements
- Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Law and another discipline (e.g. Arts, Commerce, Economics or Science) or Business degree.
- Technical Skills: Competent in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office generally.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of Australian laws, regulations, and guidelines in relation to banking and financing activities and a working knowledge of related areas of law and regulatory environment.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies.

- Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory and legal issues.
