Grounds and Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Grounds and Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing maintenance and repair services to our school facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Mowing and edging of lawns, playgrounds, car parks, and access roads
  • Hedging of school gardens and plants
  • Weeding and garden clean-ups as required
  • Blowing of hard surfaces, including car parks and driveways
  • Minor plumbing repairs on taps and sinks
  • Minor electrical repairs with lights and switches
  • Door repairs, including locks, hinges, handles, and general repairs
  • Furniture repairs and installation
  • Building repairs on classroom items, external fencing, and playground structures

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in general maintenance of grounds and buildings
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general trade maintenance
  • Understanding of machinery and equipment operation relating to building maintenance
  • Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Trade background is desirable

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is able to take initiative in their work.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A high level of physical fitness
  • Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 20 kg)
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

You will also need to meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a current driver's license
  • Have a reliable vehicle for work purposes
  • Be willing to travel to different sites as required
