Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Specialist to play a critical role in maintaining safety, reliability, and performance of essential energy infrastructure.

This specialist will deliver expert electrical engineering support for HV systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation of key power generation assets.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to detailed protection studies and system design reviews, scope and support condition monitoring, equipment overhauls, and capital upgrade projects.

Additionally, this specialist will apply engineering principles to diagnose failures, assess equipment condition, and implement continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert electrical engineering support for HV systems
  • Lead and contribute to detailed protection studies and system design reviews
  • Scope and support condition monitoring, equipment overhauls, and capital upgrade projects
  • Apply engineering principles to diagnose failures and implement continuous improvements
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Degree-qualified Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer
  • 10+ years' experience in LV/HV systems and equipment, with a strong foundation in protection studies and electrical design
  • Working knowledge of generators, transformers, inverters, or instrumentation highly desirable
  • Experience in plant operations, maintenance, or commissioning (power station experience ideal but not essential)
  • Chartered or working towards CPEng and relevant state-based registration (e.g. RPEQ)
