About the Role
The Strategic Medical Director will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic clinical governance, and driving continuous improvement in patient care, quality management, and workforce development. You will work closely with the Executive Directors of Nursing and Allied Health to foster holistic workforce development and advance medical education through partnerships with universities and research sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Clinical Leadership: Lead and drive continuous improvement in clinical governance, care quality, workforce development, and patient safety, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fostering innovation, collaboration, and fiscal responsibility.
- Education and Research: Establish CALHN as a leader in clinical service, research, and medical education by overseeing workforce governance, fostering partnerships with educational institutions, and promoting a culture of learning and professional development.
- Quality and Safety Management: Lead and oversee the development and implementation of strategic frameworks, safety systems, and compliance processes to ensure continuous improvement in quality management, risk reduction, and patient safety, while fostering a culture of accountability and proactive risk management.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to foster holistic workforce development, promote innovation, and advance medical education through partnerships with universities and research sectors.
Requirements
- Leadership Experience: Proven executive-level or senior leadership experience in providing strategic health advice and leading change initiatives in complex, multi-disciplinary organisations.
- Expertise and Qualifications: A strong understanding of public health system operations, particularly in acute and primary health care across the continuum of care, with a background in medicine or a related field.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to work together as a team to set and achieve program objectives.
- Culture Fit: Strong alignment with CALHN's values and a demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, advancing medical education, and promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Benefits
- Competitive Salary: A salary package of up to $365,798 per annum, including flexible options for salary packaging covering living expenses, meal and entertainment allowances, and novated leasing.
- Relocation Support: Up to $10,000 reimbursement of approved relocation expenses for transitioning to CALHN, for eligible applicants.
