The Role
As an Alcohol and Other Drug Recovery Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing case management, advocacy, and support for clients engaged in our residential services. Our 12-week rehabilitation program helps clients recover from alcohol and other drug dependence, integrating therapeutic elements and supports to attain recovery goals.
You will connect clients with relevant supports to address related issues, including family and other relationships, emotional and physical health. Providing holistic support throughout the client journey, you will foster client capacity toward independence.
Operating within our Service Agreement, you will perform shift work, including afternoon, night, and weekend work. This Fixed Term, Casual Position offers flexible working times based in Townsville, in a 24-hour residential facility.
To succeed in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD).
- Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant legislation and guidelines relating to case management and safety.
- Previous experience as a Support Worker or equivalent within the program area of operation.
- A personal aptitude for working within set guidelines and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- An ability to deliver advocacy on behalf of clients and maintain confidentiality.
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland.
Estimated salary: $$40-$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We recommend COVID-19 vaccination but do not require it. A valid driver's license is necessary for this role.
