Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services for rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Carry out field service activities on rotating machinery from various manufacturers.
  2. Engage in field service activities away from the workshop, including travel to various locations.
  3. Support all activities related to the service, installation, repair, or maintenance of rotating equipment.
  4. Inspect and repair valves, including testing and reporting.
  5. Strip, inspect, repair, rebuild, and commission machinery, including reporting and recommendations.
  6. Supervise a team of mechanical fitters and work autonomously.
  7. Support the operation of service activities with technical expertise.
  8. Disassemble faulty parts and tools and repair or replace defective parts.
  9. Fitting and assembling parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
  10. Check the accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
  11. Provide technical service of a varied nature, ensuring compliance with specifications provided by represented companies and clients, and that jobs are completed to schedule and to the required quality standards.
  12. Examine detailed drawings or specifications to determine job, material, and equipment requirements.
  13. Support the Workshop Manager in all general service inquiries, including quotations, orders, and control of stock, consumables, etc., in the workshop.

Main Areas of Work

  1. Steam and gas turbines.
  2. Axial, centrifugal, multistage, integrally geared compressors and expanders.
  3. Screw compressors.
  4. Fans and blowers.
  5. Industrial gearboxes.
  6. Reciprocating compressors and valves.
  7. All types of rotors.

Requirements

  1. Master's or bachelor's degree or a certificate IV in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. 2+ years of rotating equipment experience.
  3. Experience in project management - favorable but not essential.
  4. Professional accreditation such as CPEng, NER, RPEng, RPEQ (favorable but not essential).
