About the Role:

This is a highly skilled engineering position that plays a crucial role in supporting the design, integration, and installation of modernized systems and equipment on Navy surface combatants.

The successful candidate will provide functional mechanical engineering analysis and technical point-of-contact support for DDG 1000 Class Destroyers.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • • Perform functional mechanical engineering analysis for the installation of shipalts onto DDG 1000 class ships.
  • • Support the update of associated databases and calculations, and configuration management of changes to piping and HVAC systems since new construction, for DDG 1000 distributive systems.
  • • Specify new functional designs and design changes in support of Navy contracts, Ship Upgrades (SCDs) and special studies for DDG 1000 class ships.
  • • Work with customers (Navy, Installing Activities, Procurement, Contracts, Detail Design, and On-Site Design Representatives) to resolve technical issues, recommend changes, and maintain appropriate communications.
  • • Travel to ships' home ports may be required.
  • • Provide technical leadership for the development of detail design products.

Requirements:

  • • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required.
  • • Sr. Engineer: 5+ years' experience is required.
  • • Principle Engineer: 12+ years experience is required.
  • • Familiarity with shipboard or commercial pipe and vent systems is desired.
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • • Ability to organize, plan, and execute projects is necessary.
  • • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail with proven ability to work independently and in a team environment is required.
  • • WINDOWS operating skills are required.
  • • Microsoft Excel and Word skills are required, proficiency in Access is desirable.
  • • CAD (AutoCAD, Catia) skills are desirable.

Clearance:

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
