Academic Researcher Position

We are seeking a highly motivated recent graduate to assist economists with academic research full-time for 24 months starting in June. This position will involve analyzing large panel data, writing computer code to solve dynamic economic models, conducting literature reviews, and helping with model derivations.

About The Opportunity

The selected candidate will work closely with the Research department's cohort of researchers, who will be located in Richmond. The researcher will interact regularly on site in Washington, DC, with the Richmond economists using Census restricted data, and one other Richmond Fed researcher working at the Census.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzing large panel data
  • Writing computer code to solve dynamic economic models
  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Helping with model derivations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in economics (preferred), statistics (Econometrics required), or mathematics
  • Extensive coursework in economics, statistics, and mathematics
  • Experience with computer programming and statistical analysis software packages (such as Python, Stata, and R)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A high level of integrity and independent decision making
