System Engineer, Level 2 Job Description

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer to join our operations team in Alice Springs. As a critical member of the team, you will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and operating computer systems at a secure client site.

  • Design and define system architecture for new and existing computer systems
  • Maintain, configure, and ensure reliable operation of computer systems
  • Provide technical support for networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
  • Troubleshoot moderately complex hardware and software issues
  • Train end users on the proper use of hardware and software
  • Install and upgrade operating systems and software packages
  • Monitor and tune systems for optimal performance
  • Ensure data integrity with standard software and hardware solutions
  • Perform regular backups and database archiving to ensure recoverability
  • Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with policies and standards
  • Ensure systems meet performance and security requirements
  • Evaluate existing systems and assist in long-term planning strategies
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less-experienced team members
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement system architecture for new and existing computer systems

  4. Resolving moderately complex hardware and software problems
  5. Training end users on the proper use of hardware and software
  6. Installation and upgrading of operating systems and software packages
  7. Optimizing system performance by monitoring and tuning systems
  8. Ensuring data integrity through standard software and hardware solutions
  9. Scheduling regular backups and database archiving to ensure recoverability
  10. Auditing hardware and software to ensure compliance with policies and standards
  11. Ensuring systems meet performance and security requirements
  12. Evaluating existing systems and assisting in long-term planning strategies
  13. Mentoring and guiding less-experienced team members
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in systems administration and systems architecture
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Ability to work independently in a secure, OCONUS environment
  • Knowledge of system monitoring, tuning, and performance optimization
  • Experience conducting audits to ensure compliance with security and configuration guidelines
  • Ability to train end users effectively
